Our wonderful Hospitality Club members, along with their adult advisers, recently attended Mass and visited with our Residents. After serving lunch, the girls shared their musical talents with the Residents and Little Sisters by putting on a Talent Show!
The show featured two Hospitality Club members, Megan Tucker (playing the violin) and Liana Shelly (playing the piano and flute). Residents were treated to a performance featuring Disney tunes along with many favorite church hymns. The playing of an Irish jig was certainly the highlight of the day for Sister Loretto, our Irish “Colleen”! Volunteers Sarah Prock, Carley Blyth and Katie King helped add to the success of the day.
Featured musicians were: Megan, a senior at Mount DeSalles High School and Liana, a senior at Seton Keough High School. Both girls said seeing the joy on the faces of the Residents encourages them to volunteer at St. Martin’s Home.
The Hospitality Club is open to girls between the ages of 13 – 17. The club has been meeting for over ten years on the third Saturday of each month between 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. In addition to helping with Resident activities, the girls are able to join the Little Sisters for a meal and conversation. Their warmth and sincerity add so much to St. Martin’s Home! If you are interested in joining the Hospitality Club contact Sr. Lourdes Marie at vocbaltimore@littlesistersofthepoor.org.
