The snow was beautiful, white, and fell for 36 hours without stopping! St. Martin’s Residents, staff and Little Sisters survived Maryland’s Blizzard of 2016. With areas reporting as little as 12 inches to other areas with over 30 inches, the storm set a record for the most amount of snow in Maryland’s history! Thanks to the dedication of many employees who spent the entire weekend of the storm at St. Martin’s, the Residents were comfortable and safe!
Keith Karas, Human Resources Director, filled in for our snow-bound Activities Department and conducted the weekend activities including bingo and exercise. An afternoon performance entitled “Thanking God,” featured Bobalouie the Clown (Keith), the Vagabond Trio (three Residents), the Little Sisters and our three postulants who sang a beautiful rendition of “Yes, Jesus Loves Me.” Resident Charlotte Muth said, “I laughed until my tummy hurt – it was indeed a ‘Happy Hour’ inside St. Martin’s.”
