Feast of St. Joseph
The Feast of St. Joseph was remembered on Tuesday, March 19 at St. Martin’s Home. This holiday is special as St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of the Little Sisters of the Poor. The community’s foundress, Saint Jeanne Jugan, had a particular devotion to St. Joseph, taking many needs and problems to him in prayer as she cared for the elderly poor. Bishop Mark E. Brennan and priests from the diocese joined the Sisters, Residents, volunteers, staff and guests for the annual Mass and luncheon.
The day called for a feast day meal prepared by our dining staff as the priests put on aprons to serve our Residents in Main Street. Joining the priests were Board members, Sisters and staff who helped celebrate this day and St. Joseph’s life of service.
Many Residents thanked the priests and Board members who, in turn, thanked the Residents for allowing them to be of service and bring joy to the elderly poor – as the Little Sisters observe their 150th anniversary in Baltimore!
