On Friday, April 27, Sister Lawrence Mary celebrated 50 years of religious consecration. Sister Lawrence entered the Little Sisters in 1962 and came to Baltimore to do her nursing studies at St. Agnes before going to the novitiate in Queens, New York. In 1968 when she pronounced her first vows, she had no idea where the Lord would lead her. Her journey took her to serve the elderly in France, Singapore, South Korea and the Philippines before calling her back to Baltimore. Sister Lawrence feels she can truly say with our Foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan, “God has blessed me, because I have always greatly thanked His Providence.”
The beautiful Mass was celebrated with 15 priests, 2 Bishops, 1 deacon, 2 seminarians and presided over by Archbishop William E. Lori. Sister Lawrence was joined by many friends and family, including her sister, Sister Susan, also a Little Sister, from our Mother House in France. A beautiful luncheon followed Mass and the celebration ended with entertainment performed by a Korean dance group.
Congratulations to Sister Lawrence Mary!
