Forging Forward

  • April 4, 2012

by Sister Rosemary

After training on the challenges of relocating Residents, the Little Sisters, family, friends and volunteers were poised for moving day for the Residents on Our Lady of Fatima Unit. The weather cooperated, providing a cloudless and warm morning. The day started early, with all “hands on board” ensuring that each Resident received the individual attention they deserved and allowing them to be participants in their relocation.

After Residents enjoyed a final breakfast in the “old dining room,” some went off to special activities to help pass the time, while others began moving their clothes and treasures across the building.

By 10am carts were filled to the brim, crisscrossing the hallways-out of the old and into the new. Despite intense efforts all were left energized and gathered at 2pm at the doors of the “new” Our Lady of Fatima Cottage for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The pictures that follow are your passport to our newest cottage! Our Residents, Little Sisters staff and volunteers are grateful to all who have made this possible. And we extend a heartfelt invitation for you to come visit us as our special guest.
