SPRINGTIME! We celebrated the first day of spring with a little “dirty work”. Tomatoes, sweet peppers, zucchini, eggplant, chives, sweet basil, cucumbers and wildflower seeds were lovingly potted by Residents, staff and volunteers, who didn’t mind getting a little messy. Residents told stories about everything from gardens they’d had throughout the years to how they had no favorite vegetable because they were made to eat everything on their plate as children. The planting party concluded with a snack of cookies and punch. Let’s hope our new garden will be prosperous. By the way, keep your eye on Sr. Lourdes because I think she’s already plotting to cook up all the eggplant.
