It may not have been Broadway, but the Severna Park High School teens performed in the St. Martin’s auditorium with great enthusiasm.
The Teen Musical Theatre’s “Godspell Jr.,” a modern rendition of Godspell designed for young performers, captured the essence of the original play, including the seventies wardrobe with a twenty-first century twist. Resident Lillian Dahlweiner thoroughly enjoyed watching Josh, a young member of her family, take the lead role of Jesus. Cast family, staff members and Little Sisters enjoyed this Friday afternoon entertainment. It was a pleasure watching these students sing and dance to a positive message.
Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak. It opened off Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and revivals many times since. The musical is a series of parables, based on the Gospel of Matthew.
Congratulations to the Cast of Godspell Jr.
